Flooring Underlayment

There are different types of natural and synthetic flooring underlay:

• Natural Underlay: Cork underlay and Felt Underlay are made from natural materials.
  • Cork Underlay: The cork underlay is a great natural product and when it used as flooring underlay, it reflects heat of body and it protects the natural warmth of feet and offering a more comfortable feel. It can be used with glue down and floating floors such as Engineered Hardwood, Laminate, Vinyl plank or Cork floor. Cork underlay requires the use of vapor barrier when installed directly over cement or below grade. It can be purchased in 3mm, 6mm and 12mm thickness sheet or roll.
  • Felt Underlay:The felt underlay is made from recycled fibers (Natural/Syntethic). *Following information is based on QuietWalk brand (QuietWalk premium acoustic underlayment).
